IGLPI Second Grand Assembly

IGLPI SECOND GRAND ASSEMBLY

The Most Worshipful Independent Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of the Philippine Islands (IGLPI) held its Second Grand Assembly from November 30 – December 1, 2007 at Cavite Lodge Nr 2 Cavite Masonic Center and at the Bagong Buhay Lodge Nr 4 Bagong Buhay Masonic Center. Bagong Ilaw Lodge Nr 6 was the Host Lodge assisted by La Naval Lodge Nr 7 and Mendez Nunez Lodge Nr 8. The Theme was – “Sustaining Progress From a Fresh Start by Putting Masonry in the Heart. “

The Grand Lodge was opened by the RW Nicolas G. Ricafrente, Deputy Grand Master (DGM) at around 10:00 a.m. The Reception of the Grand Master followed, thence the Flag Ceremony, the Salute to the Flag by Bro JW Manolo M. Contreras of Pilar Lodge Nr 3, the Grand Lodge Hymn, the Roll Call by RW Armando L. Quion, Grand Secretary, the Invocation by VW Bayani R. Leoncio Grand Chaplain, the Grand Oration by VW Reynaldo D. Generillo, Grand Orator.

The Plenary Session thence commenced with the Report of the Legislative Council, Report of the Judicial Council, Deliberation and Ratification of the Election and Appointments Codes, Judicial Codes, Administrative Codes, Uniform Code of By-Laws for Member Lodges, By-Laws of Masonic District No 1. The Codes were moved, seconded and approved or amended by the Assembly in an Article by Article sequence and thence the whole Code. Several Resolutions were presented and also moved, seconded and approved by the Assembly. The procedure was smooth and expeditious as beforehand, during the various Lodges Meetings, District Meetings and District Convention, exhaustive time and efforts were done on the various Codes. The Grand Master distributed a book bind copy of the IGLPI Constitution and Codes to each Lodge Worshipful Master for their reference. The Assembly recessed for lunch by 12:30 p.m. and resumed by 1:30 p.m.

The Grand Master presented the Past Master Apron to WB Rodolfo Massido, a Past Master of St Augustine Lodge Nr 300 who served as WM of the Lodge for seventeen (17) months. A Resolution was submitted by Emilio Aguinaldo Memorial Lodge Nr 5, where WB Massido is an affiliated dual member, to award the Past Master Apron to WB Massido for his faithful and worthy Masonic services to the Fraternity as WM of a duly constituted Lodge and as provided for by the recently ratified IGLPI Administrative Codes.. The Resolution was approved in the District Convention of Masonic District Nr 1, IGLPI last November 18, 2007. The Grand Master affirmed the Resolution.

The Grand Assembly suspended its labors and the Grand Master and as President opened the Annual General Corporate Meeting of the IGLPI Incorporated. The President, reported to the Corporate Body, the SEC Certificate of Incorporation, its general by-laws, the summary of its Board Meeting held last November 28, 2007, the status of its funds, the dual personality as a Fraternity and as an Incorporation. A Motion was made to appoint SW Atty Ariel Jawid as the IGLPI Inc Corporate Counsel. The Motion was Seconded and Approved by the Body. There being no other business, the President Adjourned the Annual General Corporate Meeting by around 2:00 p.m.

The Grand Master resumed the labors of the Grand Assembly. The Reports of the District Grand Supervisor, Grand Inspector General, Grand Treasurer, Grand Auditor, Grand Secretary were read, and were Moved, Seconded and Approved by the Assembly. The
Four Edicts of the Grand Master were also read and were Moved, Seconded and Approved as it also has further completed its purpose. The 3 Edicts concerns the interim approval of the various Codes pending their ratification by the Grand Assembly. The Grand Master then delivered his Report. The Grand Master then presented several awards.

The Election process followed with the Grand Master assuming as Chairman of the Election Board. The Chairman, Council of Elders, VWB Edgardo Reyes, PDDGM, then announced the Nominees for election of Grand Officers. The Electoral Tribunal chaired by VW Francisco G. Supnet, Grand Legal Officer, was sworn in. Election Supervisor and Marshals were appointed by the Chairman, Election Board. Administrative instructions were announced. The Nominees for Junior Grand Warden gave a five minute talk. A Recess was called and the Hall was arranged for election. Upon resumption, a total of forty-eight (48) electors were accredited. The following were elected:

Grand Auditor - RW Roxy H. Sarmiento


The incoming Grand Master, RW Nicolas G. Ricafrente deliverd his Remarks and announced the appointment of the Grand Line Officers. He also announced the appointment of VW Aldo G. Olaguer as the District Grand Supervisor, VW Eduardo V. Bayot as the Grand Lecturer, VW Bernardo Marges as the Grand Inspector General among others.

The Grand Lodge was recessed by around past 6 p.m. The incoming Grand Officers were then briefed of the Installation of Grand Officers Ceremony.

Second Day:

The Seminar and Workshop were convened at Bagong Buhay Lodge Nr 4. The Lodge Management and Leadership Seminar, the Rituals and Floorworks Workshop for Marshals, Deacons, Tylers, Stewards, and the Masonic Education for Newly Raised Masons were conducted. Lunch followed. The Conferral of Past Master’s Degree was done with VW Eduardo V. Bayot as Conferral Master.

The Grand Lodge labor was resumed at Cavite Lodge Nr 2 IGLPI at about 3:30 p.m. Reception for the Guest of Honor and Speaker RT Rev Pedro C. Ojascastro, Bishop of the


Diocese of Cavite, Iglesia Filipina Independiente was done. Bishop Ojascastro is a member of Cavite Lodge Nr 2.

The Grand Master delivered his Valedictory Address and was given a standing ovation.

The Installation Ceremony for Grand Lodge Officers used by the IGLPI was adopted from the ceremony used by the GLP and the Grand Lodge of Wisconsin. The current officers retired from the lodge and the incoming Grand Officers were formed. They entered in two (2) columns, stopped and faced inward as the seven (7) elected Grand Officers entered and proceeded to their assigned seats and stations. Then the Grand Assembly was seated. The Grand Tyler and Grand Marshal were first charged and installed and started their duties. The Grand Marshal assisted the Grand Master by being the Master of Ceremonies. The group of Grand Inspectors were called, presented, charged and installed, followed by the Grand Lecturers, and the District Grand Supervisor. The Group of the Grand Senior and Junior Stewards; the Grand Legal Officers/ Grand Bible Bearer/ Grand Standard Bearer/ Grand Sword Bearer/ Assistant Grand Secretary/ Assistant Grand Treasurer/Grand Organist were called, presented charged and installed. The group of Grand Treasurer/Grand Secretary/Grand Auditor were called, presented, charged and installed. The Grand Senior Warden and the Grand Junior Warden were called, presented, charged and installed. The Deputy Grand Master was called, presented, charged, and installed. Finally, the Grand Master was called, presented, told to pray, charged, affirmed his ascent to the ancient charges and regulations, and installed as he knelled at the altar and placed himself as a Master Mason. He was invested with the Grand Master collar and his hat. He proceeded to the East, was presented with the gavel. The Master of Ceremony made the Proclamation. The Grand Assembly saluted the new Grand Master with Grand Honors. The Grand Master delivered his Inaugural Address

The Grand Master introduced the Guest Speaker. Bishop Pedro C. Ojascastro delivered his Address. A Plaque of Appreciation and a Memento were given to the Guest Speaker.

The Grand Assembly was closed at around 6:30 p.m, in short form by the Grand Master

Fraternal dinner followed.

It was something different from what we normally witness. It was well attended, with guest from other Grand Lodges, and the sisters of Brethren. It was a very solemn, inspiring, public ceremony. Indeed a new, better, fresh, beginning.
